Kids Takeover – Disney Edition Part Two

I’m back with part two of my kids takeover – Disney edition. My girls had a lot of info to share and they have even more so part three will probably be coming along with another YouTube video. I’ll link the original video below so you can see all their cuteness but here’s a quick hit way to see all they talked about.

Don’t Be Cranky

They said it, not me. The picture above is priceless. It’s one of my favorite pictures of my three girls because it is so real and honestly adorable. That being said, in the moment it was a little stressful. Of course it’s inevitable that there will be meltdowns at Disney. They’re happening constantly all around you while you’re there but having conversations with your kids beforehand and setting up the expectations for the day can go a long way in helping minimize these moments. They will happen but do all you can to set yourself and your kids up for success.

Must-Haves For Park Days

There’s a couple things we make sure to bring on every park day and these are a few of those things. You never know when there will be an opportunity for an autograph at Disney so we are always prepared by having the kids autograph books on hand along with a sharpie. These are the classic autograph books and we have had the same ones for each of our kids since our first trip. They love seeing how much they have filled the pages and I know this will be an amazing keepsake as they continue to grow. These sharpies are our favorite because of the push top. It’s easy for the characters and there’s no lids that we have to worry about.

As you know, Disney World can be really, really hot so be prepared for that. We always have these neck fans with us. They’re great because they are hands free and can be charged each night in your resort room to be ready for the next day. We also love Frogg Toggs cooling towels. In conjunction with a neck fan, you’ll be as cool as can be. Well not really in the Florida heat but you’ll be cool-ER.

Save money by bringing your own snacks. Disney allows you to bring in outside food and drink which is something you should take advantage of. We always have beef jerky, fruit snacks, popcorn and granola bars. No matter what craving you or your kids is having, it can be filled with one of those snacks. I’m not saying we never buy anything at the parks because we do but it’s usually an ice cream treat. Bringing your own snacks will help so much with your Disney budget so plan ahead and add it to your Wal-Mart delivery.

Must-Haves For Your Resort Room

There’s a couple things that we always like to have in our resort room to make our stay more comfortable. The first is this 9-in-1 power strip that has two usb ports, a usb-c port and six outlets. It’s awesome to have and comes in so handy as you’ll have so many things that need charging on any given night. From tablets to phones to neck fans, you want to make sure you have a place to get everything charged and ready for the next day. Our family is big sound machine lovers so we always travel with small, portable sound machines to make our sleep time the best it can be. This one is compact and works perfect for travel. We bring two so we can have one in the kids sleep area and one in our room.

Itinerary (AKA Have A Plan)

Don’t make the mistake of heading to Disney World without a plan. There is so much to do and see at each and every park. There’s no way you could do it all in one day. Figure out what is at the top of each persons list of things to do and figure out the best plan for your family.

The internet is overflowing with Disney planners and ideas so do your research. One of the biggest tips I can give you is to take time studying a map of each park and figure out an itinerary based around location. The parks are big so you don’t want to go from one ride at the back of the park, walk all the way to the front of the park for your next, back to the back for the next show and so on and so on. Write out all the things you want to do. Locate them on the map and then write out a plan that would follow a nice path at the park. It will take time before your trip but make it a family event and get everyone involved. It will create amazing anticipation for your upcoming trip.

Most important tip of all is to enjoy your time with your family/friends. Disney is so magical and you don’t want to miss it because you’re stressing about all the other things. Focus on the memories that are being made and your trip will be full of all the magic.
