What To Add To Your Breakfast Popsicles
You can personalize these breakfast popsicles to your preference but a few things are non-negotiable in our house. First up is chia seeds which are full of fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants just to name a few benefits. They are the epitome of superfood and such a great way to start your day. Next up is spinach which is chock full of vitamins A, C, E, zinc, magnesium, iron, potassium and again, fiber. I know it can be difficult to get greens into your kids diets so blending them into these popsicles is the perfect way to do it.
Based on your preferences, you can switch the following ingredients out. We love using coconut water as the liquid base for our pops and smoothies but if you prefer a creamier texture, feel free to use almond milk or whatever type of milk your family enjoys. Instead of adding any sweeteners we always use a whole banana. Fresh and ripe or ripened and frozen is best as the more ripe they are, the sweeter they will be. If you prefer honey, maple syrup or agave syrup, those are great options as well. Our favorite summertime flavor is anything tropical so we buy bags of frozen tropical fruit with pineapples, peaches and mangos but feel free to use your favorite combination of fruits. Favorite Gear For Breakfast Popsicles
There isn’t a ton you need to prepare these but the one thing you can’t do without is popsicle molds. If you go on Amazon there’s a million types to choose from so it really comes down to your preference. We have a few different kinds that we love and I end up filling all of the molds up when we make these so the kids can choose what style they’re in the mood for.

These push-up style molds we got last year and have loved them. They are made of food grade silicone and come in packs of 8. We bought a couple sets so we could have a lot of popsicles on hand for when neighbors are over and everyone wants a healthy way to cool off.

We also have a few different designs from ZOKU and we love them all. By far my favorite brand of popsicle molds. These ring pop style molds are super cute. They also have fish, Dino, space and safari molds which are so fun for the kids.
Having a good blender is always helpful to have on hand and great to have so you can make your popsicles as smooth as possible. Everyone seems to have their favorite brands but I’m a tried and tru Vitamix lover. I know they are expensive but you can get them discounted on Amazon when you buy refurbished. They always have a killer Black Friday sale on Amazon as well so if it’s something you’ve been eying up, save the date for that.

Breakfast Popsicles
Equipment
- 1 Blender (I love my Vitamix for these.)
- Popsicle molds of your choice
Ingredients
- 2 cups spinach
- 2 cups coconut water (or milk of choice)
- 2 cups frozen fruit (we love tropical fruit blends but choose your family's favorite)
- 1 whole ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- Start by adding the spinach and coconut water to the blender and blend until smooth.
- Next, add the frozen fruit and blend.
- Tear the banana into three to four pieces and add to blender. Blend until smooth.
- Add the chia seeds and give the blender a few pulses until the chia seeds have blended through the smoothie.
- If the smoothie seems thick I would add more coconut water. You want it to be easily poured so adjust the liquid accordingly.
- Once everything is blended begin pouring the smoothie into your popsicle molds.
- Place your molds in the freezer and let freeze at least four hours. Overnight is best but if everyone is excited for them I understand:)
